Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is planning to spend a lot more money on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The company wants to keep up with its competitors in the fast-growing AI race.

Big Investment in AI

Alphabet said it expects to spend between $175 billion and $185 billion this year. This is a huge increase compared to just over $90 billion in 2025. Most of this money will go into building data centers and the technology needed for AI to work.

Competing with Big Names

Alphabet is in competition with companies like OpenAI (the maker of ChatGPT) and Meta (the parent company of Facebook). Google is promoting its own ai software, called Gemini, to compete with others. Recently, Apple decided to use Google’s AI models to improve its Siri voice assistant.

Alphabet AI Spending Plan vs. Meta

Alphabet’s AI spending plan is much bigger than Meta’s. Meta plans to spend between $115 billion and $135 billion this year.

Boost for Chipmakers

Alphabet’s investment will also help companies that make computer chips. For example, Nvidia, which makes chips for AI, saw its stock price rise by 2%. Broadcom’s stock price went up by more than 6%.

CEO’s Concerns About Speed

Even with all the spending, Alphabet’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, is worried. He said that the company might not be able to keep up with the speed needed in AI. He mentioned that problems like power shortages, space, and parts could slow things down.
